Bolognini - 5 Pieces for Solo Cello (First Edition)
Argentine-born cellist and composer Ennio Bolognini was a true renaissance man: a virtuoso cellist, composer, boxer, and pilot. His music often reflects a vivid Spanish influence, including flamenco-style strumming effects, a technique in which Bolognini excelled as both performer and composer.
This volume presents the first edition of five works for solo cello: Segoviana, Serenata del eco, Serenata del Gaucho, Adagio and Allegro, and Fiesta baska. Four of the five pieces feature Bolognini’s characteristic strumming technique, giving the collection a distinctive sound world that combines lyricism, virtuosity, rhythmic energy, and guitar-inspired color.
These pieces offer cellists a striking alternative to the standard solo repertoire and are well-suited for recitals, competitions, advanced study, and performers interested in twentieth-century cello music with Spanish and Latin American flavor.
