This short showpiece is not included in the original published score of the opera, as it was composed later for the premiere at the Metropolitan Opera on January 26, 1916. Gaspar Cassadó's 1923 arrangement of the Intermezzo made this short piece famous and is now a staple of many cellists' repertoire. Our new edition is based on the 1923 Schirmer edition. Besides offering a beautiful, newly engraved edition, our aim is also to fix slurring in the cello part.
