Ernest Bloch’s From Jewish Life was composed in 1924 and has since become one of the central works in the cello repertoire. This set of three Jewish-style pieces combines lyrical intensity, expressive depth, and the distinctive spiritual atmosphere that characterizes much of Bloch’s music.
This edition is based on the Carl Fischer first edition. The cello part includes Hans Kindler’s original fingerings, including some that were omitted from the first edition cello part. Page turns have been placed in practical locations in both the cello part and piano score, making the edition especially useful for performance and study.
The quarter-tone accidentals have also been updated to follow current notational standards. This edition offers cellists a carefully prepared performing text of one of Bloch’s most beloved works for cello and piano.
