Sonata for Violin and Cello was composed in 2003. This two-movement work explores the lyrical, harmonic, and virtuosic possibilities of the two instruments through the influence of Eastern European and klezmer musical styles.

The sonata treats the violin and cello as equal partners, allowing both instruments to share melodic, rhythmic, and dramatic material. Its writing combines expressive lyricism with energetic passagework, modal color, and the flexible, improvisatory character associated with klezmer-inspired music.

This set includes a playable score and separate parts. The sonata is suitable for early advanced players and works well for recitals, chamber music programs, contemporary music concerts, and performances featuring Eastern European or Jewish musical influences.
