Platti - Cello Concerto in G minor, WD 667 (Urtext Edition)
Giovanni Benedetto Platti (1697-1763) was an Italian Baroque composer and oboist. In 1722, he was called to Würzburg to work for the prince-bishop of Bamberg and Würzburg. There, he married Theresia Langprückner, a soprano singer with whom he had at least two children. Platti spent the rest of his life in Würzburg, working as a singer, instrument virtuoso, composer, and conductor.
This is the first edition of the G-minor Cello Concerto, WD 667. The original manuscript parts for this work are housed in a private collection. The solo cello part does not go above the fourth position, although it is notated in tenor clef, going up to G4. The violetta part may be substituted by the viola. The only deviation worth noting is that the finale is missing the "assai" in the viola and cembalo parts.
This set contains the score and all performance parts.
