Handel - Suite in G major, HWV 441 (Transcribed for Cello Solo)
Handel’s Suite in G minor, HWV 441, originally composed for harpsichord, is here reimagined for unaccompanied cello. In eight movements, the suite showcases Handel’s mastery of Baroque dance forms, expressive line, and contrapuntal writing, now adapted idiomatically for the cello while preserving the original key.
This transcription is part of the Homage to Cassadó project, honoring the legacy of Gaspar Cassadó, whose transcriptions and original works expanded the cello repertoire with boldness, imagination, and artistry.
This package includes two versions of the suite:
- A clean edition without bowings or fingerings, allowing freedom for personal interpretation
- An annotated edition with suggested bowings and fingerings, offering guidance for performers exploring Baroque style
This edition bridges Baroque keyboard literature and the expressive possibilities of the unaccompanied cello, making it a rewarding addition for developing and advancing cellists.
